Join the AFDiT Practitioners Network
Are you a practitioner working in adoption and looking to build your confidence, deepen your knowledge and strengthen your reflective practice in transracial adoption? Or would you like to learn more about the AFDiT Framework (AFDiT stands for Anti-racist Framework for Decision-making in Transitioning children from minoritised racial and ethnic groups into transracial adoptive families) and how it can support evidence-informed decision making?
The AFDiT Practitioners Network is a new community of practice from Adoption England for professionals working in adoption who want to deepen their understanding of supporting children from different racial backgrounds and across cultures. It focuses on how the AFDiT framework can be used in everyday practice to strengthen identity, heritage, culture, ethnicity and religion considerations where these differ between a child and their adoptive family. The network offers a reflective and supportive space for practitioners to explore real life cases, share learning and build confidence in consistent and evidence informed decision making when working with children and adoptive families.
This network is designed for practitioners who want to connect with others, develop their knowledge and feel more confident using the AFDiT framework in practice. It provides flexible online sessions every two months with no expectation to attend every session. Sessions are facilitated by Dr Tam Cane, Founder of the AFDiT framework and Associate Professor at the University of Sussex, and Ruby Shah, National Practice Lead for Family Finding and Matching at Adoption England.
You can sign up to the drop in online sessions via our website and for more information download the document.
