Adoption England's statement on the murder of Preston Davey

"The circumstances of the death of Preston Davey are truly shocking and heartbreaking. Our immediate thoughts are with Preston's family and all those who knew him.

"The horrific crimes committed by these two individuals have deeply affected many people – including those who work in adoption and children’s services, families connected to adoption, and the wider public.

"Local authorities and adoption agencies have rigorous safeguarding processes in place when assessing and supporting adoptive families, and throughout a child’s journey into a new home. Above all, our priority is always the safety and wellbeing of children. We are committed to acting on any findings from the Independent Children’s Safeguarding Review.”

Sarah Johal MBE, National Adoption Strategic Lead, Adoption England
